What do BullyBusters do?

BullyBusters can help and support children, young people, parents or professionals working with children and young people.

If you are a child or young person we will listen to your problem without passing judgement and give you options of how you can help yourself, but not force you to do anything that you don’t feel comfortable doing. We can give you helpful tips to keep yourself safe, we will encourage but not pressurise you, to talk to someone whom you trust, who will be able to help and support you.

We advise all callers to keep a log of the 4Ws: Who, What, Where and When. This can be handed to a teacher and given in as evidence to prove you are being bullied, and it is not just one off incidents. If you do not want to talk to your parents or carers about the situation we can call your school (if you permit us to) direct and speak to them on your behalf, to make them aware of what is happening. If you are being bullied, never feel ashamed or embarrassed about what is happening, something that doesn’t affect anyone else can have great harm to you. Don’t suffer in silence, we are here to help.

Parents can be guided through on up to date school procedures and given support for anything from writing letters to getting your child professional help such as counselling or assistance with specific problems, ensuring your child’s self esteem can be boosted and preventative steps can be taken to ensure long term effects can be minimal. If a solution to the bullying cannot be achieved we can refer your child to a LEA representative who can deal with the school directly and if necessary assist in helping your child move schools.

BullyBusters can offer workshops, assemblies, presentations or mediation to schools and organisations to keep the anti bullying message at the top of the agenda all year round. The visits are catered for the needs of the school and we are very versatile in delivery. These have proved to be very beneficial to schools and pupils, and on a number of occasions long term bullying has been resolved through mediation.
